How to order a repeat prescription

Unless a review of your medication is due, or you feel it necessary, patients on regular treatment need only return the tear-off strip attached to their prescription, indicating what items they require. Prescriptions can be requested in person at the surgery or by post.

  • Repeat prescriptions can also be requested online using the NHS App
  • We can only accept telephone requests from house-bound patients.

If possible, order your repeat prescription about a week before your medication is due to run out. We need at least three working days’ notice to provide a repeat prescription.

How to Get A Repeat Prescription

Online Using NHS App

You can request repeat prescriptions online through the NHS App. Without contacting the practice, you can use the service to order your repeat prescriptions that are due. Once requested, simply collect your prescriptions from the surgery or if an arrangement is in place we will send this to a chemist of your choice.

If you are interested in this service please visit NHS app website to register. NHS app can be used on desktop and mobile – you don’t need to have a smartphone to use NHS app. If you need support connecting your health record on NHS app, please speak to reception team.

Telephone Or Prescription Box

Patients who require long-term medication may have their treatments authorised by their doctor for repeat issue. You may then request this medication without seeing your doctor on every occasion. Your doctor will check and sign every prescription and review your treatment with you periodically to ensure it remains appropriate. You will have a written record of your medication, which you should show to anyone else who treats you.

Please remember that you can only have repeat prescriptions where these have been authorised by your doctor, and then only for the long-term treatments they have prescribed for repeat issue.

You may leave your repeat prescription request in the box provided at reception.

If you are housebound you may ring us to request your repeat prescription at least 48 hours before you run out of medication.
