Clinics and Services

Providing good healthcare relies on having a number of specialist services. We will refer you to them as and when the need arises. Doing things this way means you get better care from an expert and we can make more effective use of the resources that we have. You can find some of the services we offer listed below.

Anticoagulation Clinic

Nurse-led clinic held weekly for patients receiving Warfarin therapy.

Cervical Smears

For women between the ages of 25 and 64, with a routine recall every three years. You can continue having cervical smears after 65 if you wish but will not receive an automatic reminder. If you think you are not up to date, please telephone to check your record.

Child health

If you have children, remember you can prevent many very serious childhood diseases by making sure your child gets all the recommended immunisations.

For further information, visit the NHS UK: Vaccinations and when to have them page. Apart from one injection that is given at school, all childhood immunisations are available at the practice and it’s never too late.

Contraception

Service from specialist nurse offering contraception and ‘morning after’ methods for emergencies.

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit a contraceptive pill review, please complete the Contraceptive Pill Review form.

Cryotherapy

Treatment of warts and verrucae.

Diabetic Clinic

We provide full diabetic care for most patients with Type 2 diabetes and some with Type 1 including management with insulin.

Flu Vaccinations

An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients aged 65 and over and those with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing homes and rest homes.

Contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. Please let us know if you are housebound and a home visit will be arranged.

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

New patient checks, blood pressure, urine, weight and lifestyle advice. We recommend that new patients attend for a check with our healthcare assistant when registering with the practice.

Immunisation and Travel Advice

For those patients planning to travel abroad. Appointments must be made two months before departure.

If you are travelling abroad please make sure you complete the Travel Risk Assessment form in plenty of time to arrange any vaccinations that may be necessary.
